Sendai - 仙台

'The city of trees'

With around one million people, Sendai is the largest city in to Tohoku region.

The city was founded by Date Masamune, and as a result many of

Sendais's tourist spots are centered around the former Lord and his

family.

Half an hour northeast of Sendai will find you at Matsushima, a small town who's bay, which is home to many pine clad islets. This is how the town got it's name. Matsu (meaning pine) Matsushima (The island of Pine Clad). It's bay is ranked as one og Japan's most scenic views.

Sendai is known for their specialty dish Gyutan (Beef Tongue) and Zunda (Sweetened mashed green soybean) used as a topping for dumplings, as a filling in mochi and even in a zunda shake! (the last one is delicious)
